Colombey-les-deux-Eglises
Set off in discovery of General de Gaulle's village, Colombey-les-deux-Eglises near Chaumont, and explore:
- La Boisserie: the De Gaulle family home. Destroyed during the Second World War and then rebuilt, the house was home to the General and his family during the wilderness years from 1946 to 1958. Franco-German reconciliation was sealed here in 1958, and the General spent his last days here in 1970.
- The Cross of Lorraine, 43.5 metres high, built in 1972 in homage to General de Gaulle, is both a place for meditation and a prime viewpoint overlooking the Haute-Marne landscapes de Gaulle loved so much.
- The Charles de Gaulle Memorial, which completes the commemorative route that also includes the family home and General de Gaulle's grave.
